I never realized how much I would love this album. It's a very dreamy album, kind of like Loveless by My Bloody Valentine or Disintegration by The Cure. The singer, Elizabeth Fraser, is a great singer. She has a very smooth voice that can hit higher octaves.

After Elizabeth Fraser, you have Chorus infused guitar that sounds like something in a Shoegaze record. If you like My Bloody Valentine, you'll love Cocteau Twins.

My favourite Cocteau twins album. Heaven or las Vegas, is a dreamy masterpiece. It's great that you can hardly understand the words because it's all about feel and atmosphere. It all works in the context of an album, but some songs such as, iceblink luck, work on their own. Lovley album then, as beautiful and as colourful as the record sleeve.

WOW is this better than Loveless?

While a-ha, Duran Duran, late ABBA, The Cure, and Kate Bush all brushed with a certain kind of sound, for me, this album "is it." Spectral, colorful, haunting, homely, adventurous, lively, reserved, sensual, all at the same time, crazy as that may sound.

Heaven or Las Vegas introduced me to the idea of the voice being used as an instrument. I don't typically listen to dreamy pop music, but goddammit, if you don't appreciate this voice after one listen, you have no heart. Every song on this album is so perfect that I can completely ignore the fact that the cover looks like a Windows 98 screensaver.

Even though Fraser's vocals are slightly more intelligible than in past songs, for the most part you still are guessing what in the world she is saying. However, that hardly matters when she brings a voice to the music that is instantly recognizable and blends so beautifully well. Just don't bother trying to decipher what she's singing; instead, look at her voice as another instrument.
