De las múltiples recopilaciones que existen de Queen, esta es una de las más novedosas desde el Greatest Hits III que ofrecía algunos tracks inéditos. En esta recopilación del soundtrack de la película nos encontramos con 11 canciones previamente no publicadas y hay algunas autenticas joyas, como la versión de "Doing All Right" todavía con la banda Smile, la canción en vivo "Fat Bottomed Girls" en París, la intro de la 20th Century Fox en versión de Queen que es algo que me encantó también, o la mejor parte de todas, la presentación de Queen en el Live Aid de 1985, pero fallida al omitir dos canciones del set tocado aquel mítico día, hablo de "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" y "We Will Rock You" que se extrañan. Hubiera sido perfecto si hubieran incluido la presentación completa. Lo único infame me pareció la versión de "We Will Rock You (Movie Mix)", una mezcla espantosa que pensé, aparecería igual en la película, y quizás en ese contexto hubiera funcionado, pero no es así, la canción no aparece así en la película y no entiendo a quién se le ocurrió esta mezcla horrible. Otra canción que hubiera quedado bien en su versión original es "Don't Stop Me Now", que aunque no suena mal, tampoco aporta nada más que unas nuevas guitarras. En cuanto al resto de las canciones suenan igual a sus versiones originales, aunque algo distintas como es el caso de "I Want To Break Free" que omite la parte instrumental intermedia y "Under Pressure" que termina con unos chasquidos de dedos más prolongados. Buen soundtrack para la colección.

Great songs in a bad film. Anyway, all the essentials are here:Killer queen, Another one bites the dust and the title track. Of course, Brian May and Roger Taylor couldn't leave everything alone and so we have the affectionate, Doing all right, re-recorded with Tim Staffel with May and Taylor as Smile, the band Brian and Roger were in before Queen. Nice and nostalgic. Don't stop me now, has a new guitar track that gives it a more live feel but it doesn't really improve the perfect original. There's even a 'Queen' version of the 20th century fox fanfare theme. Very silly and over the top in the typical Queen fashion. Anyway, some good news prior to release was that we would finally get an official audio of the group's celebrated Live Aid performance. The bad news is it's not all of it. Missing are Crazy little thing called love, which of course is a great song but we all have it a hundred times over and it would have been preferable just to have the Live Aid version here instead of the studio version and there is an horrendous 'mix' of, We will rock you, and so that is omitted from the Live Aid show too and it's awful. Why not just put the whole of Queen's Live Aid performance here? It's a stupid decision not too. Even if it isn't in the finished movie, Crazy little thing called love, and, We will rock you, at Live Aid would have been great. Anyway, it's a fun soundtrack all in all, bar that, We will rock you, thing and much, much better than the film.
