Favorite album of all time.
A near perfect album from a wonderful singer-songwriter. The only thing that holds this down is that the songs are somehow better in a live setting. Check out Living in Clip for her strongest work.
I was initially turned off by Ani's apparent anger until my wife urged me to give her a chance. This is the album that turned me. "Tiptoe" is so vulnerable that any wrath she spews afterward is kind of beautiful, a plea for honesty and equality in a world that chews up the weak and spits them out. Not a perfect album, nor a pretty one, but a pretty good one.

The several weak tracks weigh this down a good bit (as does the relentless swearing), but Ani's guitar and bass mastery keep it well above water anyway. And the high points, particularly at the title track and "Worthy", are as high as the Sears Tower.
