Better than you might originally think, but is definitely not one of Gorillaz' best. Actually, this is arguably their worst (if not, G-sides is) and for a band's worst album, it holds up quite well. Hillbilly Man, The Speak It Mountains, Bobby In Phoenix, and California And The Slipping Of The Sun are all great songs, but tracks 4, 6, 7, 8, and 12 kind of scream filler. And track 15 is cringe-worthy. It's not even a real yodel! Such a horrible ending considering how great the previous two songs were, but still, it's worth getting if you're prepared for an album that goes in a completely different direction than all of their others.
If you're new to the band, get this album LAST. Demon Days, Plastic Beach, D-sides, and the debut are all spectacular, but this one is only mediocre at best.
Amarillo stands as my favourite Gorillaz song - really sinks into your skin, has great lasting and replay value.
The rest of the album is a little hit and miss, but a great effort for something made on tour on the ipad.
The Fall's lack of any sort of genuineness, nauseating attempt at emulating americana, and overall slapped-together-ness are appalling.
This abusive stepfather of a record unapologetically stole 43 minutes and 28 seconds of my life from me.
An absolute travesty. Let us speak of it no more. (Edited)
Not bad for an album made on tour, but this is the level of a B-side album.

For some reason this album made on a fucking iPad while touring just sticks with me. It really catches this sinister, industrial feeling that I get with traveling for some reason. Not that I have fear for traveling, but it's just this sinister yet romantic feeling I get from trains and planes and highways, I can't explain it. It's this "fear of the future/modernity" sentiment the best trip hop taps into I guess.
