Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. Beautiful songs by a solid baritone. Unfairly neglected by history.
A solid album from James Taylor and his best one since Mud Slide Slim, songs like Your Smiling Face and Handy Man would have enhanced the extremely popular Greatest Hits album from the previous year, had they been released in time.
Secret O' Life is a classic but There We Are is probably my favourite track here, quite a heartfelt love song which even mentions Carly Simon by name, it is perhaps a side to James Taylor that often faces criticism, it is often a thin line where things can slip into twee sentimentalism, but this is a great song nevertheless.
JT seems like a bit of a mixture of the great singer-songwriter James Taylor from the early 70s with the soft rock James Taylor from the mid 70s. Like most Taylor records its an easy listen. Some of the arrangements are a bit more elaborate at times than you'd maybe expect from him, but he has some more simple moments as well. A pleasant record from start to finish.
JT is one of JT's better albums. The acoustic songs are excellent. As usual, though, when he tries to be funny (Traffic Jam) or a rock and roller (Honey Don't Leave LA), he is just annoying. (Edited)

Solid and beautiful album from kA very easy listening kind of stuff, lacks some edge, but suitable for lazy afteroons. (Edited)
