Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 4% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 76.3/100, a mean average of 75.6/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 76.4/100. The standard deviation for this album is 13.9.

Decent debut but I prefer some of their later albums.
Not much of a show of the mainstream success that would come later, but all the better for it. Varied and interesting, each song feels like it received the performance it asked for. They're not all great but there's some gems that shine in a different light to the more well-known Foo output.
Actually prefer this album to their later mainstream, big sound albums. It’s raw and pent-up and is full of great tunes.

I love the story of Dave in a studio alone thinking he was recording the White Album.
Not the greatest of all time but a really good album nonetheless. Not their personal best either but a strong debut in my opinion.
Extremely consistent, wonderfully raw and unpolished. A huge presentation for a sole artist to make such an album all by himself.
Favorite Tracks:Big Me, Weenie Beenie
Solid debut for the Foos, more of a solo album since Dave Grohl plays everything. There would be better Foo Fighters albums after this.
