This Is a Call kicks the album off well enough but it's all downhill from there. The other issued track, Big Me, gained popularity due to having "funny" music video, not because it's a great or even good song. Very reminiscent of how Blink 182 were able to peddle their awful music while MTV was still relevant. The silver lining here is that, unlike Blink, Foo Fighters went on to make some very worthwhile tracks like Evermore and One by One.

This album was one of the rare cases when on first listen i liked almost every if not every song on there! It's super fun and Dave Grohl sings and plays everything by himself i mean come on isn't that something !? 9.5/10

Not the best Foo album, the first 5 tracks are good but it tails off after that, there's enough here for an occasional relisten.

Dave Grohl flexes his musical muscles on this album by playing literally everything. He is a great musician and his songwriting skills are already adept on his solo debut. This album is hard, but not what you'd expect from the former drummer of Nirvana. It is a pleasant surprise as Grohl develops his unique musical identity. The first half of the album is very good, especially the first 3 tracks still holding up as some of the best Grohl has ever written. The last half becomes a bit boring but still with worthwhile songs.

From Kstoclet
of course it's not the best album of the Foo Fighters
Only the first few songs are memorable.

But the sheer talent of the man, doing it all on his own for the first time is astonishing.

I like the melodies and riffs in these songs, but the songs themselves are very repetitive. Sometimes it feels like I'm hearing the same thing for five minutes.

I get it. He returns after the death of Kurt Cobain. He plays all the instruments and is a one man band.

This is still ho hum average 90's alternative music if you take away the first three tracks which are excellent.

I think who he is and what he pulled off gives this album more credit than it deserves. The full compliment of band members to come is when this band rises to the top of the crop like cream

Side one is where it's at. Everyone knows the hits, the "Edge FM" staples, but "Floaty" surpasses them all. Unfortunately, the quality doesn't sustain itself till the end of the album.

From Gionzi
Genial, Dave Grohl is simply genial. Only one year after Cobain's death and the end of Nirvana, he reinvent himself in a new, fresh and completely surprising rock. In some songs it can be heard a Nirvana sound yet, but he create a colpetely different atmosphere and in this album pratically alone
