What we have here are the first ever Blue Note recordings. The songs Melancholy and Solitude was Blue Note's first ever release. The compilation is made up of piano compositions. It's a fascinating listen because it teleports you right to a jazz hall where you can here Albert Ammons and Meade Lewis playing in harmony or one at a time. The recording quality is low because it's the thirties, but it's all wonderfully vintage.
