Pillar of the LA Punk Scene. Exene and John Doe are a hell of a combo, and this album is a lot of fun.

Favorite Tracks: Your Phone's off the hook but you're not, Johnny Hit and Run Pauline, Los Angeles, and The World's a Mess; it's in my kiss.

From Kurtco
X is a rock band that has brought a lot to punk music. This los angeles band is not very well known. "Los Angeles" is the classic of the band. They make intelligent punk, introspective and sarcastic. Criticizing society with bitterness, The album is sublimated by the voice of the singer Exene Cervenka. Many consider this album as the best punk album of all time. For me, it's a small masterpiece, a little classic that must have listened.

If you could create an album made specifically for a Tony Hawk's Pro Skater game, this would be the result. Love it!

Great debut album. Love the male/female harmony between Exene and John Doe. Billy Zoom added rockabilly sound to some of the songs. Solid drumming by DJ Bonebrake. The lyrics on some of the songs and on many of the X albums are like dark poetry. This album was produced by Ray Manzarek of the Doors, and he plays organ on several of the songs, including, the excellent cover of The Doors' "Soul Kitchen",
My favorite songs on this album are: "The World's a Mess, It's in My Kiss", "Los Angeles", and "Nausea".
