Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 72.3/100, a mean average of 72.0/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 72.3/100. The standard deviation for this album is 14.0.

Shortlisted for the 1999 Mercury Music Prize. The winner was OK by Talvin Singh

The songs are all very melodically similar, but there are so well-executed and the lyrics so distinctively different, that they keep your attention. The whole point is the capturing of a feeling at a time in young adulthood that everyone can relate to. A well-deserved 9/10!

Loved it, Was worried that the first 5 tracks (mostly the singles) would be the best and the rest of the album tracks would be a big drop off but I enjoyed them all. Just Looking is a beautiful song and one of their best. Kelly Jones' voice is one in a million and often makes mediocre songs into good ones, but the rest of the band really put in a shift here too. Their best album for me.

I continue to be baffled as to why this band doesn't get more recognition

This is without doubt the Stereophonics finest album

It's a stomping 13 songs of raucous rock

It spawned a few great singles and the album tracks are not filler they are all very good stand alone tracks

This album had permenant residency on my car stereo for most of 1999 or 2000

Great stuff

Very good rock/alternative rock/post britpop/hard rock album. Best 10 songs average is 91,0/100 and the album can get very good 90/100. Pretty even album on a very high level. Best songs are "Hurry up and wait" and ballad "I stopped to fill my car up" 95/100, followed by "I wouldn't believe your radio", "Is yesterday, tomorrow, today?", "A minute longer" and "Plastic california" all 90/100. All (!!) other songs pretty good 85/100.

Bloomin heavy and full of the sunscreen music. Perfect for the holiday. Perfect for the chase. Music to give energy to the underboiled and unready
