A unique distillation of a southern college band who got together as somewhat of a gimmick, released a couple of joke-y albums and then disappeared. This cd compiles both those cds in their entirety in one place nearly 10 years after the first release. The Coolies were a group of frat boys who formed a band to do cheezy Simon and Garfunkel covers in a wide variety of styles. They tacked on a cover of Paul Anka's "Your Having My Baby" as a coup de grace. Two years later they followed that up with a rock opera about a transvestitie short order cook that was murderered by a rock singer who turned the chef's cook book into a best seller than fell on hard times. Over the course of the second album, the group showed a proficiency of styles again, from The Who, Gary Glitter, The Replacements, rap, and John Lennon - all bundled up to a mix which worked surprisingly well! The CD was released on Casino Records as UPC 7 00203-3009-2 0 and can be found on discogs.

A lot of hard work happens in the background to keep BEA running, and it's especially difficult to do this when we can't pay our hosting fees :(
