Just cleared the Sun Kil Moon discography. Another terrific album. Probably my third favorite of theirs, behind Ghosts of the Great Highway, and Benji.
Despite Benji being my new favorite album from Sun Kil Moon, then Ålesund is still my favorite song of theirs. I always get shivers when Kozelek's voice quietly 'bursts' in after the long intro-guitar-arpeggio; "No this is not my guitar/I'm just bringing it to a friend". The rest of the album is really fantastic too, but frankly The songs tends to be drawn out too much. The lyrics for Sam Wong Hotel are some Of The best Kozelek has Ever written.
