Excellent album. The "baroque pop" sound is very reminiscent of the late 1960s, and apparently the Left Banke were one of the lead groups of that era in that genre, but the sound also bled into other musicians from that era, like Zombies, John Hartford's RCA albums and the early albums from Nitty Gritty Dirt Band.
Walk Away Renee and Pretty Ballerina are both excellent tracks. There are a lot of other tasteful tracks, like She May Call You Up Tonight and Lazy Day.
The lead singer went on to front power-pop bands, and judging by the hooky melodies, romantic subject material and assertive use of jangly guitars, one might call this proto-power pop. No matter, though. In an era where UK albums dominated the pop rock sound, the Left Banke is a nice American addition to the 60s cannon.

Very mediocre albeit 2 good songs
Not one incredible song, middle of the road in the sense of being good.

Yes, those songs are the best, but I like most of the songs on this album. Then again, I am a sucker for any piece of pop with a harpsichord in it...
