You never know what to expect from Beck other than something a bit different and very good and this is no exception
I don't have alot of Beck and really only getting to him to him in 2018 with the excellent Odelay. I find it hard to pin him to a specific genre but I do enjoy his sound. There is plenty variety of style in each album. This album has many great tracks and I look forward to exploring it more along with other future albums.
Probably my favourite Beck album. Very few weak tracks. And great layered production by the Dust Brothers. Full of quirky details. Best songs- Guero, Girl, Scarecrow, Missing.
1st Beck album bought on release but the 2nd owned after Odelay. I prefer this of the two but these were more than enough to catch up with his catalogue. He’s done better but a good listen. Perhaps three weaker tracks meaning an 85 for me.
I love the back to back Sea Change and Guero releases. These two are my personal favorite albums of his. He jumps a lot of genre territory here but it all sounds very professional and accomplished.
Scarecrow is a fantastic song. So is E-Pro and Girl
Second best Beck by my count. All of his releases are typically solid (80) or at least original (Odelay). Only Guero and Sea Change enter excellent status
Maybe Beck's most mature, well-rounded album.
By my reckoning this should be #3 for 2005.
Maybe just pips odelay and sea change as his best effort. Beck's most idiosyncratic album, seamless genre hopping.
Great addition to Beck's discography proving that he can redefine and bounce between a huge variety of genres successfully.
Yes, it's uneven, but half of this album belongs on a greatest hits cd.
