Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 15% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 74.3/100, a mean average of 73.8/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 74.4/100. The standard deviation for this album is 16.3.

This album is like magic, a cold and haunting magic, espacially Lake Tahoe; a beautiful combination of piano and vocals

I loved her hits, but generally found Kate Bush a little too quirky. However, I love this album - even with Elton John singing.

I can understand the general complain about this album being unnecessarily long and very stretched out. And yes, I do agree, but I don't think that this album was meant to be picked apart so thoroughly. It is a beautiful album that captures what it is supposed to exceptionally well. It is a definite grower and takes a lot of getting used to, especially considering the rest of Kate's catalog. But I like to believe that this is a background-noise album. If you get deep into your music, this could throw you off. If you use your music as a filler for a noiseless day, then I believe this could work for you. Give it time. It might just work it's magic.

Beautiful album. Although the lengthy tracks may seem daunting, they all gently glide by; nothing here proves to be tedious in the slightest. It is a more delicate & mature record compared to Kate's work in the last century, but the lyrics are still filled with quirks & the expert knack for storytelling is still present that we're very much used to from her.
More focused and intimate than "Aerial", less dispensable than "Director's Cut". Perfect for the winter months.

A stunningly beautiful album. Perfect for winter. Kate's voice has got a bit deeper but her songwriting skills are still very much on show here. Lovely.

Very good but lost 5 points from me for having elton bloody John on it, completely destroys the song, which is probably weakest on the record anyways thankfully. Should of asked nick cave instead. Apart from that a bit of class.

It is a good album but I just wish there was more of just Kate singing by herself rather than with her son or Elton John.

Loved this album. "Wild Man" and "Snowflake"would be some picks of mine. Nice, snowy, piano sound.

easily the best album of 2011. Even PJ Harvey and Bon Iver cannot really compete. not to mention they are both Kate's descendants:-)

If You are a fan of Kate, this is the undoubtedly best album of 2011. If You are not, You will become one after listening carefully. Do not hurry with opinions, this piece will grow inside You after several tries. Then shall stay there forever. And, although hit is not her best, it is still a proof that December might be magic again.
