I appreciate how kitschy this is. And taken in context with Dick Tracy, it mostly works. But holy hell, does this not work on its own!

Madonna and Sondheim, could have been a disaster. It's not, it's hot. "Vogue" is the hit and a great song but the rest of the material is just as strong. This album is not her best but it comes close. It's not a over produced, thump, thump cacophony of noise. She had the common sense to just sing the damn song.

Forgettable, except for Vogue, which was monumental. Too bad it's not on a more memorable album.

Not just nice but wonderfully BRILLIANT album from Madge. I would like to see other pop/R&B singers (with 4-5 octaves) singing jazz tracks as good as Madonna. Her voice is stunning here. She knows how to change her vocal in the right way. 'Vogue' is masterpiece of course but 'I'm Breathless' contains other superb tracks like 'Hanky Panky', 'Back In Business', 'Im Going Bananas', 'Sooner or Later'[, 'More', 'Cry Baby' etc

This one is, in some ways, a forgotten Madonna album as it was released with little fanfare and it was sandwiched between two phenomenal Madonna albums, Like a Prayer and Erotica. Forgotten it may be, but it produced one of the biggest hits of her career (“Vogue”) and it represented a musical departure for her. It incorporates swing and other big band sounds mixed with Madonna’s penchant for picking pop hits. Stand out songs include the aforementioned “Vogue” as well as the gloriously beautiful ballad “Something to Remember” and the rather fun and jaunty “Hanky Panky” which just happens to be one of my favorite Madonna songs. A very nice album.
