Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 2% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 78.9/100, a mean average of 78.2/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 79.0/100. The standard deviation for this album is 14.9.

A great indie pop album full of brilliant catchy songs written by Paddy McAloon... When Love Breaks Down, Johnny Johnny (Goodbye Lucille) and Appetite are the tracks that stand out for me. Horsin' Around & Faron Young ( Four In THe Morning) are also brilliant.
This album is like trying. Negroni for the first time. First time = interesting/pretty good.
But, second time = Oooh, this is good.. And finally, third time and from there on = Love! /addicted!
I like the first 4 tracks and 2 towards the end but the rest for me is just a boring filler. Overall vibe is nice, dreamy and romantic but too monotonous.
Pure Breathless Romance
After a bit of a thinking a raised my ranking to 85/100, deservedly!
The very stylish, jazzy, and pop sensible album, a pleasant surprise this is!
breathy decent pop songs
Great lyrics and interesting use of startling sounds throughout.
This album is full of great songs and all of them have some of the best lyrics I have heard on a pop album. I don't hear much hype around this album and I am completely shocked by this as this record is amazing. There are so many brilliant pop songs all of which are intelligent and are multi-layered and give you a lot to explore. Also, it is a bit more chill compared to other pop records and allows for you to really enjoy the music as it unfolds. The vocal partnership is genius as well and I love the contrast between the male and female vocal that makes this record unique. The instrumentation varies from track to track as well and the quality of music is incredible. This is a fantastic album and I implore that you listen to this record if you haven't already.
apart fromthe excellent wlbd,i was very disappointed with this album.
