Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 2% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 79.0/100, a mean average of 78.4/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 79.2/100. The standard deviation for this album is 13.7.

Best track: "Everybody Wants To Rule The World"
Weakest track: "I Believe"

For a short flash in time back in 1985 this was the biggest album on the planet topping the charts in more country's than it wasn't and T.F.F's were close to the biggest band. Heady times for 2 fellows from humble beginnings in Bath England
Listening to this album once more in 2019 for the first time since I was a teenager (yikes !) unfortunately it hasn't aged well. The hits still sound great but the remaining tracks sound , well ...very 80's . Meaning they were great some 34 years ago but not so much today
Big surprise for me was hearing the live tracks on this album , something that I hadn't recalled up until that point

Som clássico da década, o instrumental é extraordinário.
Interesiting pop album with some unique featured presented by Tears for Fears, also, this album is full of classics.
There are a couple of amazing tracks on this album (you know the ones). There are some other good ones too. Sadly, there are also a couple of let downs, which, although not below a certain standard of pop, don't measure up to what has become expected of the band. I'm always happy listening to this album, but I'm also always left feeling it could have been better.
This is a superb album which leans more towards prog than pop in my opinion. 'Shout' is an excellent upbeat opener but the second track may come as a surprise with the sax and synth texture intro which lays the foundation for a superb vocal not dissimilar to the vocal delivery of Silent Running's Peter Gamble. When I listen to this album I hear elements of Wham, Spandau Ballet, Silent Running and Level 42.
This is an interesting, more progressive than I was expecting from a new wave album. For a pop rock effort, it's fantastic.
Despite the classic song everybody rules the world and the high scoring head over heels and shout the album only scored a 78 for my rankings. Unfortunately this album has a number of average to below average filler type songs.
An interesting mix of the pop readiness of Michael Jackson, the melodic sensibilities of Wham!, and the experiments of The Cure. I wasn't expecting this!
Track Picks:
Shout
The Working Hour
Everybody Wants to Rule the World
Head Over Heels / Broken
Listen
A well produced new wave albums that has great moments like head over heels, but a few filler tracks
