Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 2% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 78.8/100, a mean average of 78.4/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 78.9/100. The standard deviation for this album is 14.9.

This album is just pure brilliance. Almost every single cut on this record is unique and gives you so much to explore and enjoy. It is so vibrant that there is no possible way to be bored by this record. It is genius how the artist has concocted these incredible songs into one free flowing piece of art. This is best displayed on The Past Is A Grotesque Animal which keeps you entertained for the full 12 minute run time and is the best track on the record. The album hardly ever slows its pace as well and keeps the same quality almost from beginning to end. There is one or two tracks however that are possibly not necessary but they are still unique and enjoyable. Overall, this is a must listen and I'm surprised this record isn't talked about more.

More art than music this album caters to a very specific musical taste

Not everyone's cup of tea , listen and make up your own mind . You'll either it or hate it

The Past is a grotesque animal was quite good but the rest failed to grab me, at least on my first listen.

A grand slam from of Montreal. For some reason, I can't really get into any of their other records, but I could listen to this one every day for years and years.

Great album, got me hooked since the first listen. The first half is much stronger, it has the best songs, but the second half isn't bad at all. Definitely the best from them, excellent when you're in a good mood

Best songs: Suffer for Fashion, Heimdalsgate, Gronlandic, Kongsvinger (yeah, they have some issues with song titles...)
