This is not the catchiest Weakerthans Album, nor is it the most thoughtful and introspective. However, this is their most dynamic and interesting. Unlike "Reconstruction Site" which burns itself out after the mid-point and "Left and Leaving" which always felt a little too uneven, "Reunion Tour" is at least a solid album from start to finish and at best succeeds in capturing the listener into each of the characters built (or pulled from history) for the songs collected. "Hymn" and "Medical" are the tracks I find most lacking, but after a strong start with "Civil Twilight" and one of the best middle sections of an album I've heard in a long while, I found that I could play this album more and more.
