This one gets some flack but for me it’s a fun soundtrack with songs that work for the movie. It’s on par with The Black Album you can tell it was put together quickly and should not be judged as a proper album.
Slightly schmaltzy (the duet with Sheena Easton is a glaring example of that) but nonetheless very enjoyable throughout (in a kitsch sorta way) and marks the end of an astonishing decade for Prince. What could have been a trainwreck ends up being quite good actually, the funky first two tracks being my favourites, although don't discount the final track which is a mess, albeit an audacious one.
May not be Prince's highly ranked albums but I find myself liking this record nonetheless

Average pop rock/soundtrack album. Best 5 songs average is 76/100, album gets 75/100. Antiquated 80ies pop music. Only good song is the duet ballad "The arms of orion" 80/100. All other songs average 70-75/100.

Haha, this was my first Prince album. I guess that's maybe a little pathetic, but come on, I was a kid, I didn't give a fuck about Prince. I did like Batman though, that is the most nostalgic movie ever for me. This was and still is a good soundtrack, it's not one of his best albums but it's good enough to make someone a Prince fan. Like me.
