Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 61.7/100, a mean average of 60.4/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 60.4/100. The standard deviation for this album is 20.5.

The first no make-up album Lick it Up sounds not completely unlike Creatures of the Night. Its probably one of the heaviest Kiss records there is. Both Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons are in pretty good form on this album. Gene's efforts seemed to weaken a bit during the tail end of the 80s, but he's given the last 3 songs on the album and they're among my favorites.

This particular platter is one nifty lil toe-tapper.

One of the most consistently good Kiss records. There is no filler here, just plenty of muscle. It rocks. HARD.

There was a time I thought less of this record for the sole reason that I never liked the idea of them removing their makeup. However the truth is that this is a spectacular followup to the great Creatures Of The Night Album. It is almost...almost as good. Paul's "Exciter" is a ferocious opener and Gene really comes through on tracks like "Young And Wasted" and "Not For The Innocent." Really these songs would have looked good being performed in the costumes. The only thing that holds it from equaling its predecessor is the last track. I never really warmed up to "And On The 8th Day." From this point on in the 80's Gene's contributions would be erratic.

Probably the last good Kiss album(and the first without the make up), with the exception of, revenge, maybe. The title track is a Kiss anthem, all hell's breakin' loose, is hilarious, and, not for the innocent, is a strong cut. As always with Kiss, entertaining.
