Ask a Gen X rocker what their first album was and the odds are pretty high that they will tell you either Destroyer or Alive. This album is iconic. Bob Ezrin brings life to a band that could never catch their live energy on previous studio releases. Listening to this album brings me right back to 1976 everty time!

First track is great, second track starts well then descends into repetition. Rest of the album is mediocre at best.

There is no better opening three tracks than "Detroit Rock City," "King Of The Nighttime World" and "God Of Thunder." That alone would smoke almost any other entire album ever made. Add two top big hits in "Shout It Out Loud" and "Beth" and you have a true masterpiece. Not a bad track on it. Bob Ezrin deserves a lot of credit here. Maybe his best production job ever.

Quite interesting comments above... Some people just don´t get it!! Destroyer may not be the best studioalbum from KISS (I rank "Hotter than hell" and "Creatures of the night" a little higher...), but it is still a masterpiece in the rock´n roll genre. The opening tracks with "Detroit..., King of the... and God of Thunder just blows me away. Can´t ever get tired of these classical rock-n roll-tunes. The rest of the songs are not really of the same high standard, but that doesn´t mean they are bad songs. Overall Destroyer remains a real classic rock´n roll-album. Enough said!

Excellent: King of the Night Time World, Sweet Pain
Good: Detroit Rock City, Flaming Youth, Shout It Out Loud
Meh: Do You Love Me?

...

Utterly Awful: God of Thunder, Great Expectations, Beth

One of Kiss' most ambitious albums. Destroyer, with production by Bob Ezrin helped to add a bit of bombast and orchestration to the cartoon rock'n'roll. The record sleeve is perfect for the contents inside, and some enjoyable tracks in, Detroit rock city(still one of Kiss' best songs), shout it out loud, and the ballad, Beth. Probably Kiss' best studio album.

One of my favorite 8-track tapes. Bought it with birthday money from my grandparents and boy did that diminish their view of me!
