  Ratings distribution Help Average Rating = (n ÷ (n + m)) × av + (m ÷ (n + m)) × AV
where:
av = trimmed mean average rating an item has currently received.
n = number of ratings an item has currently received.
m = minimum number of ratings required for an item to appear in a 'top-rated' chart (currently 10).
AV = the site mean average rating.

Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some artists can have several thousand ratings)

This artist has a Bayesian average rating of 68.3/100, a mean average of 67.5/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 67.5/100. The standard deviation for this artist is 21.4.

Probably the most over-hated band ever. These guys were rock ‘n’ roll as far as I’m concerned.

A religion, for those who believe in the power of Rock 'n' Roll.

I like one of their tracks, but boy is this bunch over-rated! All the gear and no idea.

Possibly the most overrated band of all time.

Had several good albums, later stuff was pretty bad. Always a commercial band, more of a business franchise than a band actually and I really dislike that, but they did revolutionise the scene and were an influence to many fantastic bands. And yes, they have some really good party songs, and if many other bands can be liked because of that I can't see why I'd hate Kiss for that reason.
My favourites:
Kiss, Creatures of the Night, Alive!, Detroit Rock City (Destroyer isn't their best but this song deserves a special mention)

Kiss, Alive and Destroyer is probably all you’ll need but those albums prove they can play especially Ace Frehley.

All show, no substance. One of those bands I could never get into.

I drifted from KISS as I got older. But now, reflecting upon their 70s stuff, they were a truly revolutionary band in so far as theatrical rock goes and caring about the show they gave their fans. It is what has made the KISS Army such loyal followers. But it is the simple 70s rock grooves that are mostly underrated. Some of their tracks from that era made you want to jump up and be a guitarist, bassist, lead singer, or even roll out a Peter Criss drum solo. It can't be overlooked either, that they were a cultural phenomenon for a time. When assessing a band's standing in the pantheon, one must also take into account the impact upon the audience (not just the quality of the art) and they were huge in their time. They obviously struck a chord.
