Perhaps I took an odd path to discovering Pere Ubu: this was the first of their albums I ever bought and listened to all the way through in a single setting. While others may always list more classic Pere Ubu releases as better (such as the brilliant "The Modern Dance" or "Dub Housing"), every song on here opened a new world to me. The mood shifts throughout the album, from nuanced to haunting to edgy and more. Yet, it remains whole, and there isn't a track I would dare skip or a dull moment. Maybe my nostalgia clouds my view, but this will always be my go to Pere Ubu album.
