Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. I am so pleased to have now procured the vinyl version of this superb album. So only four years after my first entry, I can now enjoy the maximum audio experience on this limited edition coloured vinyl.
This is a stunning album, very possibly my favourite by The Waterboys much as I love This Is The Sea. Songs like 'The Hosting of Shee' and 'A Full Moon in March' really make this album a stunner. Excellent musicianship throughout.
