Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 72.8/100, a mean average of 72.1/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 72.9/100. The standard deviation for this album is 16.4.

There are albums that nobody tells you that are great. No rolling stones 500 lists, critical darlings , winners of mass popularity or even your friends tastes. You just find these albums on your own and they hit you with a power of a lightning bolt, you wonder to yourself, where the hell was this all these years.

For me Shake Some Action is one of those albums

It was never going to be major hit for its time. In an era where prog , arena and California yacht rock were kings, these guys with their fascination for retro 60s pop were never going to make it for their time, but instead they made something more ever lasting then some of the titans of that era, and created a music that reverberates in any era. Its a music of simple joys , of teenage lusts and dreams. Its power pop at its finest

Ok if there is to be a criticism then its there is an abundance of covers, one or two are ok, but when nearly half your album is made up of them it smacks a bit of laziness.

Teenage Head might be the most remembered album, but for my money Shake Some Action, is the one I will remember

Isnt it nice to find those gems nobody knows about?
