Criminally underrated album - a near perfect record containing some of my favourite Built to Spill songs, and incredible instrumentation, as on their previous record, Keep It Like a Secret.
Favourite songs: In Your Mind, Alarmed, You Are
What's not to like? This album is as solid as Keep it Like a Secret, but without the obvious high points ("Carry the Zero"), The cover art sucks though

First and only Built to Spill album I've listened to. Very interested to listen to Perfect From Now On here shortly, but also interested to see how it stacks up.
I'd say half of this album is fantastic and the other half is ok.

This was the 5th BtS release, but for me it was the follow-up to the album that blew me away and hooked me as a fan, 1999's "Keep it Like a Secret." So it's no surprise that this one was a disappointment and would fail to measure up in my eyes. Listening again several years later, it turns out it's a pretty damn good album, albeit not quite as good as "Keep it Like a Secret." The lead track "Strange" is my favorite here, with "Trimmed and Burning" and "The Weather" following close behind.
