Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 6% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 75.6/100, a mean average of 74.4/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 75.6/100. The standard deviation for this album is 15.7.

Recorded as a trio, the third Foo Fighters album is one that will always be special to me, and to Dave Grohl, who has called it his favourite in their discography. Featuring a softer, more melodic sound, it features some of the band's most well-known songs, including Learn to Fly, Breakout, and Grohl's all-time favourite Foo Fighters song, Aurora. For some fans, it is also their last essential album, although I would argue that 2023's But Here We Are is up there.

Learn to Fly is one of their best songs, definitely top 5. Stacked Actors is the heaviest track on the album and is a banger, absolutely love the QOTSA-esque riff. There are some other decent tracks here and there are no real bad tracks. Another good Foo Fighters album

Revisiting this after many many years, I was pleasantly surprised. I always thought of it being quite 'pedestrian' hence it never got an airing very often, but it was better than I remembered it to be. First few tracks have some grunt to them then it does seem to tail off a bit. Overall an alright listen.

The first three songs are some of the Foo's best and then it just falls off. Even Dave himself said he doesn't love this album, because it's one of the few that they haven't toured with most of the material.

Gone is the post-grunge style that made Foo Fighters so appealing for me. This new poppy direction wasn't too bad, Dave's vocals carry this through pretty well. Breakout, Learn to Fly, and Next Year are awesome. The rest is solid enough.
