Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 4% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 76.6/100, a mean average of 76.6/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 76.8/100. The standard deviation for this album is 13.8.

Pretty unique stuff. Doesn't sound that great but there are a lot of cool ideas that manage to get through the mix.

Its influence is undeniable, but there are multiple sections of this album that feel like full-on bad trip fodder.

I really wish I liked this more. The vibe is great, it feels haunted and spooky, but like a lot of psychedelic music it feels pretty aimless.

Interesting piece of art. First I expect something like Captain Beefheart but I was not disappointed it is a good Album i would say it is one step with Trout Mask Replica. You can really hear the voodoo influence it is inspired by jazz and psychedelic rock. I like it because the melodie are good and the voice of Dr John is outstanding.

Brilliant voodoo blues. A superb record; atmospheric and gritty it's a perfect late night, lights out record. Brilliant.

This is a real voodoo album. At the time Rebennack really believed in that stuff.

I think "Dr. Dre" learned a lot from "Dr. John"!
