Obviously Rolling Stone magazine did a lot of weird things in their list, but it boggles my mind why they looked over the concise, enjoyable album Mama Tried instead of this absolute bore of a compilation. Merle was certainly influential in country music, but he's much more enjoyable in small doses.

Turns out I don't have nearly 100 songs' worth of interest in Merle Haggard.
I listened to this 'album', as it appeared on the Rolling Stones Top 500 Albums list. While it admittedly grew on me a little, the lack of lyrical and rhythmic diversity that generally plagues country music extended to this album (even amongst 100 songs, there were very few songs that stood out as unique, with the possible exception of Mama Tried)
