The sound of genius dicking about, trying to find it's own voice in amongst all the Fall rip offs. There's good songs in here it's just that most of them are hidden behind a lot of very fuzzy guitars and very often descend/ascend into chaos. Perfect Depth is a beautiful moment of clarity in the midst of all the chaos and Malkmus does that thing he's so good at, wringing emotion out of words when you've no idea what he's on about.
Brilliant compilation of early singles and EP's...make no mistake this is essential Pavement.
