This is not an easy album to love. It represents Björk at her most experimental (to date!), and whilst there are moments on this record which chime with some of what she had done previously, it is largely made up of vocal fragments and sounds which do not. The instrumentation is often delicate (and there are hints of other albums: Medúlla and Volta, for example), but equally it is frequently a difficult listen. Will Oldham's appearance (on the first track) is a welcome one, and sometimes Björk really hits it, but too often we're a little wide of the mark, especially considering what has been produced before.
