This is a delightful album, full of re-interpreted standards and original compositions, sung by one of the most unique vocalists of our time and tied together with a groovy jazz backing. The wandering bass and splattered piano add a feeling of improvisation to proceedings, which is bolstered by Björk's scat-like singing. This is exacerbated by the fact that it's in Icelandic, and so sounds otherworldly anyway. There are a few numbers which don't hit the spot as well as others, but the highlights are plentiful. Definitely one to seek out, whether you're a fan of vocal jazz or of Björk, or are just a music lover looking for something a bit different.
