Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 67.9/100, a mean average of 66.8/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 66.8/100. The standard deviation for this album is 17.7.

"I sleep on my heart"(55), "Dream crazy"(60) and "Coup d'etat"(55) are missing from this track listing and "Hot water" and "The chant has begun" were not on this album but their previous one "True colours".

If you play any instruments, you will know when listening to this album, what a great bass guitarist Mark King is/was, I don't know whether he still plays?

I actually think he was a great vocalist too and quite different from the other eighties synth rock/pop bands.

This album takes me back to hot summers on local beaches in Cornwall followed up by memorable late nights clubbing...

Happy memories triggered by what I consider to be a happy album.

Outside of the hit "something about you", there's nothing much to see here (or hear here). This is mostly mediocre synth-pop-fueled dribble. My album rating is for the european version which (came first and) includes "i sleep on my heart" (65), "dream crazy" (60) and "coup d'etat" (50) , omitting "hot water" and "the chant has begun".
