Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 1% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 80.4/100, a mean average of 79.6/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 80.6/100. The standard deviation for this album is 15.5.

No doubt great vocal performance and some interesting music, but man, these lyrics have aged poorly. I'm getting pretty sick of the 'evil woman' trope in classic rock tbh.
The album starts off reasonably well with the opening two tracks you then get two pretty mediocre songs in the middle and then two phenomenal tracks to end on. The first time I heard Stargazer I remember just sitting back and being in absolute awe of the musical quality on display. The guitar work on that song is immense and the album is worth listening to for that song alone. The first 4 songs lack the punch of those last two songs and it really holds back the album as there shouldn't be filler content on such a short album. Overall, there are some brilliant instrumental performances on this album but it is too inconsistent to be considered elite in my opinion.

Beginning of this album isn't very special, just good old hard rock, but two last tracks are incredibly epic, Stargazer is somewhere high in my best songs of all-time list.
Even if the most sophisticated of Rainbow dischography, actually i prefer Long live Rock 'n Roll; that's an excellent album and very prog oriented, so should definitely be my cup of tea, however, even i considerate Rainbow as an Hard Rock band, and that's their strenght.
Obra maestra.
Blackmore y Dio en su mejor trabajo. Ya está todo dicho.
Un disco muy épico con una Stargazer impresionante.
Uno de los mejores discos hard rock de la historia.
First time I listened to this album. Best I have heard in a long time.
This is the best album I ever heard. I remember the time when I heard it the first time and how I was at this moment.
If I was alone on a desert island with just one album, it wouldbe this one. Great performance from all the band and A Light In The Black is my favorite song.
RIP Dio, Powell and Bain. Long live to Blackmore and Carey.
Epic album. Best from Rainbow. Last two songs being two of the greatest songs written. Couple of tracks stop it getting the almighty 100 rating but we can overlook that. Second behind 'Heaven & Hell' for any of Dio's work. Up there with Blackmore's best.
A stunning album! Stargazer, Light In The Black, Tarot Woman - all amongst the best work in the careers of both Blackmore and Dio.
