Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 1% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 81.0/100, a mean average of 80.3/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 81.2/100. The standard deviation for this album is 15.2.

This is the best album I ever heard. I remember the time when I heard it the first time and how I was at this moment.
If I was alone on a desert island with just one album, it wouldbe this one. Great performance from all the band and A Light In The Black is my favorite song.
RIP Dio, Powell and Bain. Long live to Blackmore and Carey.

Epic album. Best from Rainbow. Last two songs being two of the greatest songs written. Couple of tracks stop it getting the almighty 100 rating but we can overlook that. Second behind 'Heaven & Hell' for any of Dio's work. Up there with Blackmore's best.

A stunning album! Stargazer, Light In The Black, Tarot Woman - all amongst the best work in the careers of both Blackmore and Dio.

An enjoyable prog/metal album with every track fine apart from the terrible, at least lyrically anyway, Do you close your eyes. All in all, very similar to Richie Blackmore's previous band Deep Purple. Good, for people who (occasionly) like this kind of thing.

Number 23 on my all time chart. Stargazer is one of the few tracks I give 100 to, Tarot woman 95. If Gates of Babylon was here too, this album would be in my top 10.

Rainbow's best album without a doubt. There is great songwighting, especially on the B-side with "Stargazer" which is the strongest song and "A Light in the Black" which follows the same theme.
