Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 7% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 75.2/100, a mean average of 74.5/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 76.3/100. The standard deviation for this album is 13.4.

I love it when a band tries something different and is able to succeed at it. Mount Kimbie does that here, they're able to play around with the many sounds of electronic music and create something very interesting.

The first thing this made me think of was James Blake, though it’s a bit different than him. The number one complaint I’ve heard about Blake is that he’s boring, and that’s a complaint I can understand. What Mount Kimbie does is take a sound similar to James Blake and make it a bit more accessible (Also, it’s no coincidence that Mount Kimbie sounds similar to James Blake, as they are friends). There are still moments where the album gets a little slow, but generally speaking the album is pretty good. Mount Kimbie features rapper King Krule on two tracks, which works pretty well. The music itself behind the rapping is fairly well-structured, and King Krule’s somewhat free-flowing rapping mixes well with Mount Kimbie’s music.
