Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 70.0/100, a mean average of 68.9/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 69.7/100. The standard deviation for this album is 18.2.

Is it a bit bold of me to state that "Electric" is the Pet Shop Boys' best record, outdoing their acclaimed 80s/early 90s work (which was great, let's not beat around the bush here) ?? This is A-grade electropop / house, I honestly can't believe they're still crafting towering music like this almost 30 years after their genesis. Although also acclaimed by critics, it seems to have flown under the radar within the "music community" . Therefore, I implore all lovers of pop/electronic/house music to listen to this finely crafted record !

Man, I'm blown away by the sheer audacity of this record. The Pet Shop Boys were serious hitmakers in the 80s whose synthpop tracks and records were highly appealing to critics as well as audiences because of their sharp wit and the exploration of gritty social topics in their lyric.... however past '93 they were pretty much written off and never really had a big hit again.

Here we are 20 years later and they've unbelievably just dropped their best record. "Electric" is undeniably a milestone for the house genre and the synthpop genre in this decade. Extremely well accomplished and radiating strong production that was missing from the limp "Elysium", the boys don't forget to bring their sardonic wit to the table as well as ambitious song structures and catchy pop hooks. It's a wonderful gift for fans and the general public alike.

Love Is A Bourgeois Construct is the best! It's definitely like the best songs on Very.

Their new album, "Electric", will remind you of the new daft punk album (if you've been lucky enough to hear it). But it's probably more accurate to say the new daft punk should remind you of classic pet shop boys, as the boys have been around longer. They just happen to share influences, like mr. giorio moroder. Similarity in influences is most typified on top track "love is a bourgeious construct". Not only is that track title SO PET SHOP BOYS, but the song itself is fo witty and catchy, it'll both remind you of top late 70s/early 80s disco as well as peak-period pet shop boys. Not since "Very" have i liked a Pet Shop Boys album this much. There are so many IDM artists today that remind me of what i loved most about classic pet shop boys -- it's awesome to hear an album from the boys themselves that do the same for me..

Best dance album of the year, hands down. It's amazing. Best thing Pet Shop Boys have done since "Very".
