"In the lion, I was holidaying as a vegan / I was eaten by a so sophisticated animal / We went walking by the slopes of Kilimanjaro / When the sparrow had to light a match to make the waterfall / In the water, there's a price in heating by the fire / But in the fire, there's a heat to melt the cage around your soul." So sings Alexander Ebert on "In the Lion," my favorite track on this album, which encapsulates both the love of natural landscapes and the raw passion for living that make Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros such a compelling band for me. This release isn't quite as strong as Up from Below or Here, but it's still among the decade's best.
