This & Twins are my favourite works of Ty's solo career. It's where he's on top. Even though I love 2011's Goodbye Bread (which is comparable to this LP for its more refined folk style) there's something a little more fleshed out about the songwriting and its musical delivery on this one.
Is it just me or can some one else feel a kind of GBV influence on here (like pre-Bee Thousand)?
It's great to hear Ty Segall without all the fuzz and distortion; only a small amount of pedal-play made it to this record. This is pure psychedelic folk with which Segall managed make another great record. Segall is definitely the most prominent and consistent garage- and psychedelic rock musician working in this decade.
