Production was really good throughout, which I didn't really expect. Especially towards the end from the instrumental track onwards. As expected, Earl delivers as a lyricist, though thematically this album seems all over the place and without a clear direction.
Earl's flow and delivery, always a bit laid back (and sorta "sleepy" if you know what I mean) has never been his strongest point I think (though admittedly it fits perfectly with some verses like on Super Rich Kids, or Chum), at least compared to someone like Tyler, but while I was worried it could get grating in large doses, I have to say it didn't bother me at all on the album. Partly because there was some attempt to change that (also by vocal effects on some tracks) but I think also because there were a lot of features. Which were rarely on Earl's level (Domo is one exception), but I for one welcomed them...
Overall, I expected a lot, and I am not disappointed. Also, I have to say, since it dropped at the end of last year, Chum has become one of my favourite hip hop songs ever.
Earl is a brilliant lyricist and really brought his "A" game here. Practically every syllable he raps on this is fantastic. Guest verses are pretty inconsistent. SK La'Flair REALLY brings "Pre" down and Mac Miller isn't much better on "Guild." Love Vince Staples and Frank Ocean on here, and I'm impressed by Tyler as well. Overall though, very good album and gets better with each listen. Favorite tracks: "Hive," "Chum," "Whoa," "Hoarse"

Some of the best, most personal lyrics i've ever heard with the most interesting flows. The instrumentals are great, smooth and even ambient at times so you really can get lost in this album, it has its sinister tinge that makes for a great experience. (Edited)

Re-listening again. Forget what I said before. it's a very good record, waiting for the next, I was wrong.

Its starts really only with "Sunday", after which it's pretty much all good (with one or two exceptions), with potential for boredom though. The other problem besides the very poor beginning is the fact that "Chum" pretty much overshadows everything else. I guess one perfect song + a few good ones makes the whole pretty good actually.
