Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 6% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 75.8/100, a mean average of 74.6/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 76.0/100. The standard deviation for this album is 16.4.

Phenomenal dissection of music all at once as technology and culture and spirit and sentient entity. Definitely a grower, perhaps not a shower.

Wildly fascinating. Just wish it was a bit more cohesive within each song, sometimes it feels like the music just has a mind of it's own, which is a quite interesting accomplishment in it's own right. R Plus Seven is bookended with two fabulous songs, though.

Daniel Lopatin creates on this record a sonic representation of the virtual world's fragmented false memory. This is the least decipherable album he's yet released, which makes it quite a 'hard' listen, but this is definitely the most bold one too.
This is a contemplating on themes of virtual memory and lack thereof; hence the synthetic sound collage.
Not as emotionally gripping as Replica though, which is one of my favorite albums.

R Plus Seven continues to show he's got a great ear for sounds, though I don't think this album is as tightly arranged as Replica, making a few tracks drag on longer than they need to.

This style of music was never much my cup of tea, but this is one good album!

Sounds like the soundtrack to a theoretical videogame that I really want to play.

I hated Returnal so much. But his last two albums have been really good. I don't think he's reached his peak yet though...

A decent 2013 electronic release :)
