Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 12% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 74.5/100, a mean average of 73.7/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 74.6/100. The standard deviation for this album is 15.4.

Tranquil laid back flow to this with a variety of styles but mainly the Alison fronted tracks being of a country flavor. A bit of bluegrass, the track 'Nothin' even having a Black Seeds feel to it. Overall it's alright but personally, I had higher expectations. (Edited)

It is album that takes five to six listening before it start to grow on you. Possible not my favourite type of music, but still some lovely tunes on it. I intended to buy Robert Plant album but heard positive reviews about the album, and i bought it. No regrets overall, beautiful harmony and singing on the tracks. (Edited)

A lovely collobaration. Raising sand, is full of excellent songs sung perfectly by Alison Krauss and Robert Plant. Some beautiful songs in, killing the blues, stick with me baby, and Tom Waits', trampled rose. Nothing is overdone, everything is just about right. A pleasant surprise that basically gave Robert Plant's solo career a much needed shot in the arm.

Even though it won Album of the Year at the 2009 Grammy Awards, I think it's a very underrated record and should be getting a lot more love.
