Eddie Gale's Ghetto Music is a synthesis of several diverging trends: communal spirituals are sung by vocal jazz performers over group improvisations of the most out there yet funky kind. An album at once technically superior to the point of being overwhelming and listenable to the point of dance-ability. Think of this as jazz's version of Magma but much better and without the racism allegations.
