Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 59.4/100, a mean average of 57.7/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 57.7/100. The standard deviation for this album is 27.1.

Not good through the first half. There's a redeeming stretch in the middle, right after Wayne reminds you what album you're listening to...because it's so long.

Really, I cannot with this bullshit. Even the positive reviews are negative. What did he do with that potential? Make the most influential rap track of the '00s maybe? 'Shooter' is also the most boring track on here.
(made a mistake in my first comment I cannot edit anymore now: this is of course a year after Kanye's debut, in my head this was released in 2005)

His flow carries everything. The rest isn't particularly special. The beats are fine, and even though the soul samples seem to be predicting Kanye, I'm not too impressed by them. On a sonic level, neither the vocals or drum machine sounds are what keep me listening. And let it be clear that the lyrics set the mood, but that's the most you could say of them. What keeps me intruiged is simply his rapping, and that's fucking special.
This could be good if his voice wasn't so fuckin annoying.
This is actually a respectable album, people over-look it because too much of the world thinks lil waynes career didnt start until the release of Tha Carter III. As far as low-down gangsta southern rap goes, this is as solid as it gets. Lil wayne showed some true potential to be a great rapper on tha carter and tha carter II, but we all know what he did with that "potential." Seriously check out "shooter" and tell me it isnt a pretty innovative southern rap joint. Favorite Tracks: Oh No, Hustla Musik, Shooter, & Reciept.
