Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 5% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 76.4/100, a mean average of 75.9/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 76.8/100. The standard deviation for this album is 13.2.

For once acoustic indie rock that doesn't sound feeble and anemic. The aggressive percussion, unexpected dissonances and domestic experimental approach subvert folky melodies and chants that would otherwise fit like a glove in, say, Fleet Foxes' repertoire.
A blast, sounds like running through a sunny field.
Wonder if I look like a tourist…
I don’t envy their roadies. They must break a shitload of strings. They must have like a gazillion acoustic guitars locked & loaded on the racks in order to make a concert work. Because they don’t so much play their instruments as attack them. Fiercely! This is folk music for metal heads, folks! The songs are filled with more twists and turns than that Moon movie. And you really can’t review with this album without liberally applying the adjective VIBRANT and the phrase “crackles with energy”. Because this crackles. Vibrantly.
This is acoustic-based, college indie rock/pop. "winter" and "ashley" are the top tracks. "fools" bears shades of modest mouse. Not spectacular, but thoroughly solid & catchy.
