Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 56.8/100, a mean average of 53.9/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 53.9/100. The standard deviation for this album is 22.1.

Not really into alternative rock personally. But this album was all right. Nothing really special or stand out. It's worth a listen if you like alt though. I did like some of the tracks. Rating: Meh...Pretty repetitive but not awful. Just way too sappy and teen angsty. Examples: Lucky and From The Heart (so sappy) and then the title track is just bad.
I have to say the songs on this album are quite interesting, I enjoy listening to this genre, I actually managed to message someone to rate this album before I even started to listen to it fully. (I had only heard of the songs ''The reason'', ''out of control'', ''same direction'', ''Let it out'' and ''Disappear'' before listening to the others songs such as ''What happened to us?'')
NOTE: I'll be rating this album (and the other songs I have just listened to) sometime soon.
Update (As of the 20th of June 2017): I actually like most of the songs from this album, I admit I do like the songs that aren't singles such as ''Lucky'', ''Just One'', etc. It's worth a try to listen to.
Hoobastank's second offering and best album is consistently good.
From the Heart is a 2 minute 30 second punch to the gut.
The title track is great but a bit sappy/corny/cheesy
Disappear and Same Direction are highlights
The music is consistently good but the writing is pretty bad. The lyrics aren't insightful and their delivery with the music can sound amateurish.
The singing is good but thewords and when he sings them aren't always smooth.
This album has some decent songs. (I really like 'Out of Control')
"Disappear" is pretty great, actually.
