Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 67.9/100, a mean average of 64.6/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 64.6/100. The standard deviation for this album is 9.5.

This is a pretty good album despite the rather dull cover.I remember a school mate buying 'Tomcatin' on vinyl and at the time thought what a fresh unique cover it was. Is the cover important? Yes, I think it is, most of the best albums I own have fantastic covers! Compared to Strikes and Tomcatin this isn't as strong or fresh but it's a good listen once in a while.
Blackfoot's label was adamant about upgrading their sound and, so like everyone else in the 80s, they forced them to get a keyboard player. Fortunately, Blackfoot didn't go the new wave synth route and instead picked up Ken Hensley of Uriah Heep fame, which was as close to a good fit as possible. The songs are rather generic, but delivered with conviction, making this still a worthwhile album.
