Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 73.1/100, a mean average of 72.2/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 73.2/100. The standard deviation for this album is 13.6.

Young angry, honest and guys who love old r&b, rock and blues cannot make it wrong. Fun

Pretty solid debut of old school blues rock but none of the songs were really notable.

Best song(s): Not Fade Away; Route 66; Carol

This, the American version of their first album, differs to the U.K. version in so much as it replaces, Mona, with, not fade away. The majority of the songs are covers including the raw sexuality of, I just want to make love to you, and, I'm a king bee. There's a few originals in there the best being the wonderful, tell me. It's an excellent debut, and it superbly introduces the young and hungry rolling stones to the world, or at least in this case, the states. I don't know why the first two stones albums haven't been re-released in this country. Anyway, as I said, this is only different by one song, and in these days of CD burning, you can make you're own. Still, nice to have the original though.

A great record! Remember boys and girls, the Rolling Stones were once hungry. Raw, passionate and a hell of a debut.

Dare I say underrated? Despite the blues, rock n roll and R&B influences, this took the world by storm for its fresh, original interpretation of these classics. It's a pretty radical sound when compared to, say, the Beatles at this time. The first three songs are arrestingly good.

Probably my third or fourth favorite from the Stones.

Even though this is mostly covers, it's still a great album. The Stones take on classic blues and soul numbers laid the groundwork for not only their sound, but the sound of rock 'n' roll in general.
