Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 4% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 76.7/100, a mean average of 75.2/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 76.8/100. The standard deviation for this album is 16.3.

The name of the band describes it accurately. All tracks sound like they came out of a Gothic tinged horror movie soundtrack. Very steady throughout. One that grows on you quite well.

I love it when a band make a giant leap forward and takes a risk (think U2 Achtung Baby or Radiohead Kid A). They could have kept churning out punk garage rocks of Strange House (another great album though) but they changed course and produced this absolute pearl of an album. 5 stars.

This album is absolutely a grower as mentioned previously. On listen 1 I was neutral, on listen 2 the magic began to flow and on listen 3 I really loved this album. All tracks are great with none weak or filler material. So I highly recommend this album but make sure you have multiple listens before making your mind up.

It's enjoyable, the shoegaze bits made the album.
