Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 2% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 79.4/100, a mean average of 78.8/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 79.7/100. The standard deviation for this album is 12.5.

A timeless masterpiece. If I had to choose one single favorite album of all times it will be this one! Pure magic in my opinion.

Thinking is The Best Way To Travel

Trippy mellotron overload. A Couple of great songs from the MB repertoire and a psychedelic music landmark.

I was really impressed by this, not so much a flowing concept album as Days of Future Passed, the songs are more stand-alone. The Moodies will have been accused of being a bit light-weight as a rock band, when compared to their British fellows, but "Ride My See-Saw" really rocks. There's a lot of great melody in the songs, some have probably compared the chorus of "House of Four Doors" to Beethoven's 9th Symphony("Ode to Joy"), "Legend of a Mind" with its eerie ♫"Timothy Learyyyyy"♫ followed by the organ melody and "The Word/Om" with it's sitar, tabla and Indian spirituality.

Favoritas: House Of Four Doors, Legend Of a Mind, Voices In The Sky, Best Way To Travel

So many classics on this album, which is hard to do given the variety of sounds and styles involved. The Moodies had 5 quality songwriters and 4 quality vocalists, making for a broad listening experience on any of their classic albums.

Great 60's album, the last track is just pure magic.
The whole album combines a lot of genres that were already there or where spawning in the 60's.
Underrated album.

60's masterpiece composed of sophisticated songs between psychedelic and progressive rock. Simply a delight!
